John S. Leary Association of Black Attorneys
In 2012, the John S. Leary Association of Black Attorneys held its first scholarship and awards banquet in an effort to strengthen the organization’s charitable mission and recognize outstanding lawyers in the community. To that end, the John S. Leary Scholarship Foundation was created for the purposes of inspiring and supporting minority students enrolled in a North Carolina law school.
The Foundation’s fundraising efforts focus on funding summer internships for deserving law students who have demonstrated a desire to pursue a career in the area of civil rights or public interest. Motivated by the late Attorney Julius L. Chambers’ lifetime commitment to advance the cause of social justice, the Foundation, in 2013, named its scholarship award in honor of the Civil Rights Giant.
Please help us honor Attorney Chambers’ life’s work by supporting our efforts to encourage the next generation of lawyers to become advocates for the poor and underrepresented. Please consider donating to the John S. Leary Scholarship Foundation by attending our annual banquet or making a financial contribution.
Donations to the Foundation can also be made via PayPal.
